Hovering over the volcano

Chronic pain is like being hog tied above a volcano. Often, albeit intermittently, you are submerged just far enough down to be singed or burned. But the biggest problem is not from the wounds that may or may not heal, but from the memory within you, memories burrowed down to the cellular level. Memories of the fear, the pain and the CONSTANT likelihood that your life will be halted, interrupted or upturned by circumstances out of your control. This pain has no medication to ease it. No salve, no ointment, no pharmaceutical can touch it and that is the sh*t that wears you out. Day in, day out.
